      These pictures show what little room is afforded battery hens. The size of this cage is above what many producers allow their hens. Still you can see that the hens are in no better condition for what little extra room they occupy.

      The hens in this picture are located at the factory farm Ise-America in Cecilton, Maryland. This factory farm like many others distributes its products under the banner of “Animal Care Certified.” Take notice of the picture above and determine for yourself whether these birds look as if they are cared for. Who determines whether eggs get the “Animal Care Certified” mark of approval you may ask; the egg industry of course. You can see the deceptive label here.
