Aside from chronic feather loss and severe skin irritation these birds are positioned below another tier of birds which means the excrement from the birds in higher rows fall on those below. In this picture the exposed skin of the birds is covered in feces from the cages above. The hens in this picture are located at the factory farm Ise-America in Cecilton, Maryland. This factory farm like many others distributes its products under the banner of “Animal Care Certified.” Take notice of the picture above and determine for yourself whether these birds look as if they are cared for.
