The bird lying in this cage with its head protruding through the wire is dead. Such a fate awaits all of the birds contained within such institutions; if they survive the mistreatment and internment they are killed when it is deemed that they are no longer profitable to keep. The hens in this picture are located at the factory farm Ise-America in Cecilton, Maryland. This factory farm like many others distributes its products under the banner of “Animal Care Certified.” Take notice of the picture above and determine for yourself whether these birds look as if they are cared for.
