The plank that descends into the water at the right of this blind is likely used by a dog. Hunters use dogs to retrieve the birds they kill. A dog can easily navigate through the decoys to retrieve a dead or wounded bird and is less likely to be noticed by waterfowl than would a person or a boat. The use of a dog also allows a hunter to stay shielded from the elements by eliminating the need to leave the blind.
This blind had a spread of over 100 decoys.
