This is a broadhead. It is called a head because it rests at the leading edge of the arrow when it is in flight; broad because it is wider than the arrowheads used to target shoot. Broadheads are equipped with razor blades that easily destroy any body tissue they come in contact with. The objects below the broadhead are replacement blades should one be damaged from an object such a tree limb or the bones of a animal. This arrowhead also utilizes a chisel point tip. The angled edges at the tip of this weapon serve to split bone. Once the bone is split the hope is that the arrow still has enough inertia left to enter the body cavity of a animal and lacerate her internal organs.

Not every arrow must splinter bone to enter the body of a animal so deciding on this type of design is hunter preference. Other broadheads have razor blades that extend all the way to the tip of the arrowhead. There are many variations and designs to choose from when it comes to broadheads. Arrowheads are threaded on one end so that they can be screwed onto the end of an arrow shaft.
