There are two types of scenery which are grossly maligned in this image. The beautiful and pristine wilderness in the background contrasted with the ugliness of the hunter and his blood stained kill. The victim here is a mountain goat. These wonderful animals live in mountainous regions where they are adept at climbing and jumping rock ledges. This ability is thought to have developed as a way to avoid their natural predators. Because of this, those hunting mountain goat often wait for their targets to walk out on a rock ledge or otherwise enter firing range. Mountain goats must be shot at great distances because they usually inhabit rock ledges that would be impossible to traverse without alerting them to a stalkers presence. Hunters also know to hunt from above because a mountain goats’ natural threats come from below.
