Because a fishing license is necessary for hunting frogs it is listed here. This is often referred to as a “frog gig.” This spear tip is mounted at the end of a long pole and is used by stabbing frogs usually from a boat along the bank of a river, pond or lake. The barbs on this spear are there to keep the frog on the spear prongs. Of course, at some point those barbs have to be pulled back through a frog’s body causing even more pain and damage. This is, however, of little consequence to those who would hunt frogs for they are only after the legs of their prey.
